April 28, 2011, Toronto, ON — Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) and the Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF) have jointly declared October 17-23, 2011 as Canada's third annual Financial Planning Week. Financial Planning Week is part of an ongoing effort by both organizations to make financial planning the cornerstone of sound financial management. During the Week, IQPF and FPSC will spearhead industry events and public outreach activities in their respective markets. The main event in Quebec is Financial Planning Day, which will take place October 20 at Complexe Desjardins in Montreal. For updates, please see www.financialplanningweek.ca and www.planifiez.org.
"The goal of Financial Planning Week is to raise awareness of the importance of financial planning and to invite a call to action to stakeholders to collaborate and enact meaningful change for the benefit of all Canadians. We are therefore delighted to collaborate with IQPF, as we share the goal of encouraging Canadians to engage with and learn about financial planning," says Cary List, CA, CFP®, President and CEO, FPSC.
"Financial Planning Week is the perfect opportunity to spread our message that life takes planning, and it begins with a Financial Planner", says Jocelyne Houle-LeSarge, FCGA, President & CEO, IQPF. "We are excited to take part for a third consecutive year in this national effort to have the importance of financial planning recognized by all. Personal finances can be complicated, and we want everyone to know that a Financial Planner can help meet their personal and financial goals."
